Thank a Veteran Event

On Thursday, November 8, 2012, in honor of Veterans Day, Wheelock College held "Thank a Veteran at Work" breakfast gathering for the college community. The event recognized eight employees for their service to our country. These employees were presented with a yellow ribbon lapel pin as a way to say "Thank you" for their service and to help others to say thanks.

Cheryl Lussier< Poppe>, Deputy Secretary, Programs, Services and Personnel from Massachusetts Department of Veteran's Services spoke about the Veterans' Services Officers (VSO) located every city and town in the Commonwealth and how they can help veterans learn about, apply for, and receive benefits. She also recommended resources for veterans and their families, such as the website www.MassVetsAdvisor.org, which provides information on benefits and services.
This event was organized by the Wheelock Center of Excellence for Military Children and Families and the College's Human Resources Department.
