Martin J. Walsh
Mayor of Boston
Born and raised in the neighborhood of Dorchester by immigrant parents, Mayor Walsh is driven to make sure Boston is a city where all residents can overcome their challenges and fulfill their dreams.
Since taking office in 2014, he has focused on an ambitious agenda of protecting the rights of immigrants, strengthening Boston's schools, addressing income inequality and homelessness, preventing crime, creating the nation's first municipal Office of Recovery Services to prevent and treat substance abuse, and making Boston a leading innovation economy.
National Center for Learning Disabilities
The mission of the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) is to improve the lives of the 1 in 5 children and adults nationwide with learning and attention issues by empowering parents and young adults, transforming schools, and advocating for equal rights and opportunities. NCLD's flagship program, Understood.org, is an online resource for parents that offers personalized support, daily access to experts, and specially designed tools. The organization is working to create a society in which every individual possesses the academic, social, and emotional skills needed to succeed in school, at work, and in life.
