City Year and AmeriCorps Graduate Scholarships
Please Note: Wheelock College and Boston University have reached an agreement to merge as of June 1, 2018. The merger will form the Wheelock College of Education & Human Development (WCEHD) at Boston University, where programs in early childhood and K-12 education will be offered.
Wheelock College is proud to to be part of the City Year Alumni Partnerships and the Segal AmeriCorps Education programs, through which we offer scholarships to selected Wheelock graduate students who spend a year serving as AmeriCorps or City Year corps members. City Year and AmeriCorps unite young people of all backgrounds to serve as tutors, mentors, and role models for children across the U.S. This partnership brings idealistic and committed students with a high level of maturity, insight, and experience to Wheelock.
Up to five scholarships will be awarded annually to students enrolled in a Wheelock master's degree program. Applicants must be one of the following:
- Current AmeriCorps or City Year corps members
- Alumni who have successfully completed at least one year of service to City Year or AmeriCorps
- City Year staff members employed for at least two years
- Students who received the Undergraduate City Year Scholarship at Wheelock are NOT eligible to receive the award at the graduate level
Students must remain in good academic and social standing while attending Wheelock.
Scholarships will total 25 percent of annual tuition. Please note that if you are awarded this scholarship, you will not be eligible for any other Wheelock College scholarship. All applicants will have their graduate application fees waived.
Deferred Admission Option
Students admitted to a graduate program at Wheelock can defer their admission to serve at City Year or AmeriCorps for up to one year as long as they complete the appropriate deferment paperwork and submit their $100 deposit to hold their spot at Wheelock.
