Please Note: Wheelock College and Boston University have reached an agreement to merge as of June 1, 2018. The merger will form the Wheelock College of Education & Human Development (WCEHD) at Boston University, where programs in early childhood and K-12 education will be offered.

International students entering Wheelock College as first-year graduate students in the summer or fall semester may qualify for both merit-based scholarships from the College and loans from private providers.  (Students who are U.S. citizens of permanent residents may be eligible for U.S. government aid and private sources of aid.)

Since international students are ineligible for U.S. Government loans or need-based financial aid from the College, they need not submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition to any forms submitted in application for financial assistance, international students must provide financial verification documentation to meet I-20 requirements for College. Failure to submit these documents will make you ineligible to be considered for an I-20, which is required in the student visa process.

Merit-based Scholarships

Wheelock offers competitive academic merit scholarships to graduate students based on their academic performance, standardized test scores (including TOEFL), as well as other criteria such as community engagement and leadership. The amount of the scholarship will be determined by all these factors. All first-year applicants are automatically considered for merit scholarships, which can range from $3,000 to $10,000 if their GPA is 3.2 or higher.  Students will be notified if they have received an award at the time they are admitted or shortly thereafter.

Student Loans

International students may also be eligible for loans issued through private lenders with a co-signer who is a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident. For information on these options and for contact information for private lenders, please see Alternative Financing.  Also see below for other resources for funding your education.

Student Payment Programs

Wheelock College offers an option for families of international students to pay the cost of attendance (tuition, housing, and meals) in monthly installments. For more information about this installment payment program, please contact the Office of Student Accounts.
