Message from the Dean

Interim Dean Hope Haslam StraughanHope Haslam Straughan
Dean, School of Social Work, Leadership, and Youth Advocacy
hstraughan@wheelock.edu

As Dean for the School of Social Work, Leadership, and Youth Advocacy it is my privilege to ensure quality educational and field-based experiences for students in our undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as actively engage in community partnerships to further our mission. Our faculty and staff are committed to human rights and social justice for children, families, and their communities, including active engagement to understand dynamics of oppression and privilege and to ensure diversity and inclusion in our College and communities. Our faculty are scholars, teachers extraordinaire, and student advocates. Our students are passionate, insightful, and engaged in environmental justice work, policy reform, advocacy with and on behalf of vulnerable client populations, organizational transformation, and reflective practice. We value self-care and wellness to ensure our own health and well-being, as well as that of the clients with whom our students are engaged. Read on to learn more about our School.
