Graduate Certificate in Teaching Reading
Wheelock College and Boston University have reached an agreement to merge as of June 1, 2018 and we are no longer accepting new applications. As a prospective applicant to Wheelock College, we hope you will be interested in applying to Boston University.
These courses develop expertise in teaching reading in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms. For teachers who already hold a master's degree, these courses can be used to move an initial license in early childhood education, elementary education, English as Second Language, or special education (teacher of students with moderate disabilities) to professional licensure.
Entrance to this certificate program requires permission from the chair of the Language and Literacy Department. Wheelock offers several master's programs that can incorporate a 12-credit variation of a Professional Licensure Program to serve the professional development needs of a teacher who plans to advance an initial license and has not yet earned a master's degree.
