Wheelock College is located in Boston, Massachusetts.
Advance your Massachusetts Teaching License from Initial to Professional
This degree includes both a Math and Science certificate that each meet the Massachusetts State Department of Education requirements to advance licensure to the Professional level.
In Massachusetts an initial teaching license is valid for a 5-year period. It must be advanced to a professional license in order to remain active. It is then renewable every 5 years if the teacher proves that he/she has actively pursued ongoing professional development through college or university credit or through the district. A Boston public school teacher, for example, has the opportunity to increase his/her salary for every 15 graduate credits earned from the level of a Bachelor's Degree to that of a Doctoral Degree. Seeking advanced learning through Wheelock's innovative Online STEM Master's Degree Program not only advances one's knowledge and teaching approaches, but it also helps advance one's career.
This makes the program a great fit for anyone who already has their initial teaching license.
Courses in this program are taught by Wheelock faculty, who live and work in Boston, MA. While the program is delivered online, as a student living in Massachusetts, you'll have access both online and in-person to our faculty and campus resources.
Advancing your licensure from an institution noted for its impact in education in the state where you teach will offer you a competitive edge in the Boston Public School system or other school districts in Massachusetts.
