Meet the Office of Field Education Staff
Paul N. Akoury, Ph.D.
Paul Akoury joined Wheelock in 2013, with professional experiences in public policy, research and program development, clinical supervision, and classroom teaching. Since then, Paul has spearheaded the effort to define the strategic direction of field education at the College. He leads with enthusiasm and vision, establishing strong alignment with academic programs to ensure best policies and practices in field education. Paul has a Ph.D. and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College, and an Ed.M. in the Arts in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Sharon Labao, Ed.D.
Assistant Director, Field Education
Sharon Labao is an educator with over 25 years of experience in urban public schools as a teacher and an administrator in NY and CA. She recently completed her Education doctorate in School Leadership from Fordham University and also holds a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.A. in Elementary Education. However, her entry into education and desire for social justice foundation come from her studies in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. As an educator she worked in elementary, middle, and high school settings seeking equity and access for her students. Her work in Field Education will provide her an opportunity to do the same for students in higher education.
