Meet the Educator Licensure Staff
Educator Preparation Licensure Officer
Ryan Lovell holds a JD from the University of Maine School of Law, an M.Ed. from Saint Michael's College and a BA from the University of New Hampshire. As the Educator Preparation Licensure Officer, he is responsible for ensuring Wheelock's teacher preparation programs meet State and national standards. In addition, he coordinates MTEL preparation and advises students on earning their educator license. With over ten years of leadership in education, he has worked closely with educator preparation licensure programs as Associate Director for Graduate Education at Endicott College, Program Approval Coordinator for Educator Preparation at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and Director of Licensure at Cambridge College. Outside of Wheelock, he serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Bentley Academy Charter School in Salem. Originally from Maine, he lives in Boston and loves history and enjoys traveling.
Brenda O'Brien Bee
Educator Licensure and Data Management Assistant
Brenda O'Brien Bee attended Salem State University, where she majored in History and Education. After having worked in the financial industry for 12 years, she spent a few years raising her now 10-year-old son and 9-year-old triplets before joining Wheelock College. As the Educator Licensure and Data Management Assistant, she works closely with the licensure officer, registrar's office, and MTEL preparation instructors in the teacher preparation process at Wheelock College. She facilitates licensure endorsements through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's ELAR system and assists with out-of-state teacher licensure verification requests. She is also responsible for compiling data issued by the institution's researcher, the state, Pearson, and other resource to help streamline several aspects of MTEL testing for students and faculty, and to ensure overall program effectiveness. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, fishing, traveling, and reading.
