Wheelock Anniversary Celebration
130 Years of Inspiring a World of Good
As Wheelock College enters this next chapter of its illustrious journey, the 130th Anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the College's history, accomplishments and contributions in so many areas, among them:
- Early childhood education, including a signature international program model in Singapore with more than 3,700 graduates with diploma, B.S., or M.S. degrees over 28 years. Program alums include many of the country's sector leaders.
- Nationally recognized community service, resulting in the 2014 Presidential Award in Education on the 2014 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.
- The nation's first Child Life Program, earning a national reputation as a premiere program for the preparation of Child Life specialists.
- A social justice perspective that is woven throughout the pedagogy and programs and imbues the cultural fabric of the College.
Through a semester-long series of events and activities, the College will demonstrate the values and vision of founder Lucy Wheelock that not only guided us for the past 130 years, but will also illuminate the path of the newly created Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at Boston University. The Anniversary Year will bring together the Wheelock "family" of students, faculty, staff, alumni, Trustees and Corporation members, and also new colleagues from Boston University.
