Catastrophic Weather Events Teach-in
January 17, 2013
The Colleges of the Fenway (COF) Center for Sustainability and the Environment and Wheelock College's Center for Scholarship and Research co-sponsored a teach-in focusing on catastrophic weather events.
COF students and faculty filled an entire classroom at Wheelock College to learn more about the impact of climate change on weather-related events. Presentations by Henderson Pritchard of Wentworth Institute (pictured at left), Michael Berger of Simmons College, and Chuck Fidler of Wheelock College began the event.
A personal touch was added when Wheelock Students Allie Goyette and Andrew St. Louis (pictured at right) shared pictures and stories of how recent severe weather has impacted their lives. A discussion between faculty and students alike ensued, and a great deal of knowledge and information was shared.
The next teach-in will occur on March 28, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. and the topic will be the impacts of climate change on food availability and sustainability.
