2007-2008 International Visiting Scholars
Wheelock College will welcome three renowned scholars to the community during the 2007-2008 academic year. The visiting scholars hail from three separate continents around the globe, and represent a variety of specialties and fields. Each scholar will work with Wheelock classes, faculty, and give presentations to the wider community.

September 17 – October 5, 2007
Mr. Joseph Seet Yew Hwee
Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore
Joseph Seet is Manager of the Entrepreneurs-Connect@NP Office and a faculty member at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Professor Seet teaches EDU 483, “Entrepreneurship in the Early Childhood Education Context,” as part of the Wheelock College Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Educational Studies and Leadership at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
During his stay at Wheelock, Professor Seet will share his expertise in the field of educational entrepreneurship and state-of-the-art activities taking place in this area of innovation in Southeast Asia. He will convene lectures on this subject, work with faculty members interested in entrepreneurship and leadership in education, and study the many innovative programs in and around the Boston area. Professor Seet’s visit further enhances and advances the collaborative relationship between Wheelock College and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Dr. Ousmane Sene
Cheikh Anta Diop University, Dakar, Senegal
Dr. Ousmane Sene is Director of the West African Research Center at Cheikh Anta Diop University, one of Senegal’s premier institutions of higher education. Dr. Sene will contribute to the expansion of the Wheelock College American Studies program and lecture on several topics in modern African history, culture, and economic globalization.

Dr. Tiziana Filippini
Reggio Emilia, Italy
Dr. Tiziana Filippini is Pedagogical Coordinator and Director of the Center for Documentation and Research at Reggio Children. In her third visit, Dr. Filippini will once again bring to Wheelock College her in-depth knowledge of the role documentation plays in understanding the processes of learning for children and adults, and the ways that documentation can be used to bridge society’s view of children as competent learners.
