Students Travel to New Orleans to Aid Katrina Victims
January 09, 2007Ten undergraduate students from Wheelock College that will travel to New Orleans on January 9, 2006 to aid in the rebuilding efforts and meet alum affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The students will work alongside Habitat for Humanity, an international organization that builds houses in partnership with sponsors, volunteers, communities, and homeowner families, whereby families are empowered to transform their own lives. The New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity is mobilizing for an unprecedented rebuilding effort, and in 2006, plans on building hundreds of new homes in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes.
While in Louisiana students will have the unique opportunity to meet Wheelock alum living in the area and shadow them on the job to learn how they and their profession have been forever changed.
Students are paying for all travel related costs themselves and currently seek donations.
