Maria is originally from Guatemala City, Guatemala and conducted her undergraduate studies in Arkansas. She is currently in her second year of graduate school pursuing her masters in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Sport Psychology. Last year she joined our Wildcat family by interning as the Sport Psychologist for the men's soccer team, women's basketball team, and men's tennis team. In her role as a Sport Psychology Intern, she worked with teams and individuals on anxiety management, goal setting, self-talk, visualization, and other mental skills. Her previous experience includes working as a resident assistant at Boston University and working with Guatemalan athletes to improve sport performance. Maria deeply enjoys playing and coaching tennis on her down time.
