New Student/Faculty/Staff Exchange Agreement
October 15, 2010
An Agreement for Student Exchange and Faculty/Staff Exchange was signed between Wheelock College President Jackie Jenkins-Scott and Institute of Technology, Sligo, Ireland President Terri Scott. Opportunities exist for a wide range of cooperation and collaboration including joint research, and student, faculty, and staff exchange.
The Student Exchange Agreement will allow students from each institution to take courses at each other's campus on a semester basis as well as participate in cross-cultural experiences and study through an overseas exchange. A separate agreement for Faculty/Staff Exchange promotes the exchange of faculty and staff engaged in scientific and scholarly research and other scholarly pursuits in areas of mutual interest.
President of IT Sligo, Professor Terri Scott, said; "The objective of this mission is to develop partnerships with suitable universities and colleges in the US and, from our point of view, to create more awareness of IT Sligo, Ireland in the US."
According to Dr. Linda Davis, Interim Director of the Center for International Education, Leadership, and Innovation, "The similarity in our programmatic offerings in the areas of early childhood and social studies, including our social work related fields, makes this partnership a particularly promising one. We have already identified several short term initiatives which we feel will set the foundation for a mutually beneficial relationship, ranging from short term student experiences, to visiting scholar stints and culminating with full delivery of professional certificates and master's degree programs. We are excited about the possibilities."
