Summer Immersion Program
What is the Immersion Program at Wheelock College?
The Immersion Program is a summer international academic experience that takes place during the second year of the program. Learners travel to Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, where they pursue coursework, develop leadership skills and gain practical knowledge by:
- Visiting special and inclusive educational environments and state-of-the-art childcare centers that support children with learning challenges.
- Meeting with directors and administrators involved in inclusionary practices.
- Studying demonstration schools and dynamic environments with outstanding leaders.
- Conversing with visionary entrepreneurs who have designed educational products and innovative services for children and families.
- Attending hands-on museums and technology centers for children and families.
- Experiencing cultural events in the greater Boston area.
Fees
The cost of the five week Summer Immersion Program, which is not included
in annual tuition, is estimated to be approximately US$2,500.00 per participant
for the 2008 cohort. Included in the fees are:
- Dormitory room at Wheelock College (double occupancy),
- Continental breakfast—coffee, hot tea, danish/muffin, juice, and sliced fruit,
- Transit pass (weekly permit to use public transportation within a certain geographic area in Boston/Cambridge and surrounding areas),
- Transport to and from Logan Airport in Boston, MA, USA.
Not included in this estimate:
- Student, visitor visas, or SEVIS fees,
- Airfare,
- Required textbooks,
- Short-term healthcare insurance or medical coverage, and immunizations,
- Museum/attraction entrance fees,
- Lunch and dinner.
