Prof. Diane Levin Featured Speaker at Child Life Council’s Annual Conference
April 09, 2009
From May 21 to May 24 the Child Life Council will hold its 27th Annual Conference at The Westin Boston Waterfront. More than 1,000 professionals, educators, and students will convene at the three-day conference to discuss this year's topic: Passion, Pride, and the Power of the Child Life Community.
Diane Levin, Ph.D., Professor of Early Childhood Education at Wheelock College, will speak during the conference's plenary session on Friday, May 22. Diane's lecture, "Play: An Endangered Species?" will examine the importance of play in the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children. Diane will explore the many forces in society that endanger play, how endangering children's play can undermine their learning and development, and what we can do to promote healthy play.
She is also co-author of the book, So Sexy So Soon: The New Sexualized Childhood and What Parents Can Do to Protect Their Kids.
In addition, Wheelock will host an Alumni Dessert Reception on Friday, May 22 at The Westin Boston Waterfront in celebration of the Child Life Council conference. All Wheelock alumni are welcome; you do not need to be a conference attendee to enjoy the reception. Please R.S.V.P. if you wish to join us.
After the conference, Wheelock will host the invitation-only Child Life Academic Summit.
