National Girls and Women in Sports Day
February 04, 2007Wheelock College is hosting “Bring a Girl to the Game Day,” on February 4 to commemorate the National Girls and Women in Sports Day - recognized nationally on February 7.
All teams from youth basketball leagues in the greater Boston area are encouraged to come out and watch the Wheelock women play at their home women’s basketball game versus Southern Vermont College on Sunday, February 4. The game will be played at Pine Manor College. Game time is 1 PM.
There will be half time activities, prizes, and an opportunity to meet the players. The event is free to the public.
The ‘Bring a Girl to the Game Day’ is one of more than 1,000 events taking place across the country for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Congress has proclaimed this national day each year since 1987. The day is devoted to recognizing the progress of girls and women in sports, and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women.
The day is organized nationally by the Girl Scouts of the USA, Girls Incorporated, National Association for Girls and Women in Sport, Women’s Sports Foundation, and the YWCA of the U.S.A.
