Wheelock@Worcester MSW Program Moves to Holy Cross Campus

April 10, 2017

College of the Holy CrossWheelock@Worcester, Wheelock's thriving off-campus Master of Social Work program, is moving to the campus of the College of the Holy Cross in the heart of Worcester. The values that make our fully accredited program distinctive will not change: our human rights and social justice focus, our integrated approach to Social Work, and our emphasis on policy and research.

But the move to the College of the Holy Cross's beautiful campus will allow Wheelock@Worcester to provide many new benefits and amenities to our students and faculty, including:

  • Access to the College of the Holy Cross's meeting spaces and the Hogan Campus Center (which houses a convenience store, ATMs, a hair salon, a game room, laundry and dry cleaning services, a copy center, and several dining options).
  • Varied on-campus dining options, such as Kimball Food Court (full-service cafeteria open till 6:30 PM), Crossroads (sandwich shop open till midnight), and Cool Beans (coffee shop open till 1 AM.).
  • Classrooms fully equipped with internet connectivity, LED projectors, and document readers.
  • Office available before and during class time and on weekends for one-on-one meetings between students and field staff, advisors, etc.
  • Students (and classes) can take advantage of campus events they find interesting.
  • Ample parking and 24/7 security and emergency services.
  • The move will strengthen the relationship between Wheelock and other Social Work educators in Worcester County.

About Wheelock's MSW Program

Wheelock's approach to Social Work education is family-centered, community-based and grounded in partnerships with community providers. Students are prepared to practice advanced, justice-based social work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities through direct practice, policy, and research.

Wheelock's MSW program is designed for those working for social service agencies, community health or education settings, advocacy organizations, or career-changers committed to effecting change in the social conditions and well-being of diverse groups of individuals, children, and families.

Wheelock graduated its first Master of Social Work class in Boston in 2002. The college expanded the highly regarded MSW program to Greater Worcester by launching Wheelock@Worcester in 2012. Since then, Wheelock@Worcester has enrolled over 100 students. The 60-credit Wheelock@Worcester MSW program is offered part-time, with most students completing it in three years. However, Wheelock@Worcester also offers an Advanced Standing option, which allows students who have completed an accredited BSW program and meet certain requirements to complete their MSW degree in an accelerated time frame. All classes are held in Worcester.
