Course Reserves
General Information | Reserve Forms | Copyright Clearance Center
The Wheelock College Library starts to process reserve lists a few weeks before the semester begins. You may request that items the Library owns be placed on reserve as well as any personal copies.
Please follow these guidelines when requesting reserves:
- You may submit your materials one month in advance of the beginning of the semester.
- Please limit your list to no more than 30 items per class.
- If the library does not own the items you wish to place on reserve, the Library may acquire these materials. Please submit your request to the Circulation Specialist.
- Personal copies of books or articles may be placed on reserve as
long as they are provided by the instructor. A signed Copyright Release
Form must accompany all personal copies.
- To avoid confusion, please name your personal reserve items the same
way as they are listed in your syllabus or please submit a copy of your
syllabus when submitting your reserve lists.
- The normal checkout period for reserves is 5 hours, in-library use
only. If you wish to allow your students to check out personal
reserve items for a longer period or allow them to take them from the
Library, please note this on your form. Currently we allow the
following time periods:
- 3 hours
- 5 hours
- 24 hours
- 48 hours
- 7 days
- All materials on reserve are held at the Library Circulation Desk.
- Materials owned by the Library are identified by their Dewey Decimal call number.
- Personal reserve items are assigned a call number consisting of the professor's last name followed by a unique number.
Once your reserve lists are processed, they can be viewed on the Library's Online Catalog. Click on the Course Reserve Tab and use the drop-down menus to search for your class.
Reserve materials from the previous semester are automatically removed. Please remember to pick up your personal copies after the semester ends.
You may submit your reserve requests online or by printing and filling out the reserve packet.
