How can I get a Library card?

You can get a Fenway Libraries Online (FLO) library card at the Wheelock Library Service Desk. With this card, you will have certain borrowing privileges at all FLO institutions. Policies may vary across institutions; please consult them individually for details.

What can I take out of the Wheelock Library, and for how long?

Present your school ID (with an attached FLO barcode) at the Service Desk to check out the following items.

Please note that users assume full responsibility for all borrowed items. Lost, stolen, or damaged items must be paid for or replaced.

What can’t I take out of the Library?

FLC patrons are not eligible to check out the following items:

  • DVDs/Videos (all collections; may be viewed inside the Library)
  • AV Equipment
  • Tests and Assessments
  • Museum Passes
  • Print Periodicals (may be used inside the Library)
  • Reference Books (may be used inside the Library)
  • Reserve Books (unless enrolled in a Wheelock course)
  • Archives 
  • Laptops
How do I renew items?
  • Online
    Go to My Account in the Library catalog.
  • By phone
    Call the Service Desk at 617-879-2220.
  • In person
    Stop by the Service Desk.
Overdue Items

Overdue items may not be renewed. They must be returned to the library and checked in before being checked out again.

If you keep an item for longer than its stated loan period, you will receive overdue notices via email until the item is returned.

We do not charge overdue fees (with the exception of overdue Tests and Assessments), but once an item has been overdue for one month it is automatically considered lost and replacement fees are applied. All fees are waived once the item is returned.

If you lose or damage an item, you will be billed for the full replacement cost. Please contact Joseph St.Germain, jstgermain@wheelock.edu, if you have any questions.

  

I can’t find what I need…

If an item is listed as available the FLO catalog  but you cannot find it on the Wheelock shelves, please let a Service Desk employee know right away. We will conduct a search for the item and let you know if it is located.

You can also search the FLO catalog to see if the item is owned by another FLO library and check it out there, or place an interlibrary loan request through your home institution.
