What can I take out of the Library, and for how long?
Present your school ID card at the Service Desk to check out the following items. If you do not yet have an account in the FLO system, you will need to set one up at your home institution.
|Item Type||Loan Period||Can I renew it?|
|Books||28 days||Yes, once|
|Children's books||28 days||Yes, once|
What can’t I take out of the Library?
FLO patrons are not eligible to check out the following items:
- DVDs/Videos (all collections; may be viewed inside the Library)
- AV Equipment
- Tests and Assessments
- Museum Passes
- Print Periodicals (may be used inside the Library)
- Children's Periodicals (may be used inside the Library)
- Reference Books (may be used inside the Library)
- Reserve Books (unless enrolled in a Wheelock course)
How do I renew items?
Go to My Account in the Library catalog.
- By phone
Call the Service Desk at 617-879-2220.
- In person
Stop by the Service Desk.
If you keep an item for longer than its stated loan period, you will receive overdue notices via email until the item is returned.
We do not charge overdue fees (with the exception of overdue Tests and Assessments), but once an item has been overdue for one month it is automatically considered lost and replacement fees are applied. All fees are waived once the item is returned.
If you lose or damage an item, you will be billed for the full replacement cost. Please contact Rosalind Gould, email@example.com, if you have any questions.
I can’t find what I need…
If an item is listed as available the FLO catalog but you cannot find it on the Wheelock shelves, please let a Service Desk employee know right away. We will conduct a search for the item and let you know when it is located.
You can also search the FLO catalog to see if the item is owned by another FLO library and check it out there, or place an interlibrary loan request through your home institution.
