Instruction Sessions

The Library is here to assist all Wheelock College students, faculty, and staff with their information needs. An important component of our mission is providing instruction services to the Wheelock community. A listing of instruction session options is available to help you decide on what type of instruction might benefit you.

Be sure to schedule instruction at a time when you are available; we cannot schedule sessions unless you are able to attend. Make your requests early to avoid scheduling conflicts.

Request an instruction session using the Instruction Session Form.

List of instruction options:
Instruction followed by workshop

This type of session shows students how and why to use Wheelock Library resources, followed by independent study with floating reference assistance to address individual research needs of the students.

Assisted Workshop

Students who have already had a primer in Library resources would benefit most from this type of session. The entire class time is dedicated to independent searching with reference assistance at hand.

Integrating Library research skills into your course

Work with the Instruction and Reference Librarian to design the integration that works best for your course. Some options are listed below.

  • Schedule a short visit from a librarian to answer questions about a particular source, search strategy or a brief introduction to reference services.
  • Design a short assignment to teach students how to use the Library's resources.
  • Compare the requirements for your assignment to the Library’s resources.
