About the Earl Center
The Earl Center is a bright, airy learning environment that supports the academic and professional experience of the Wheelock community and serves as a resource for current and future early childhood educators, social workers, and child life professionals within Wheelock and across Boston.
The Earl Center is a workspace to explore, create, work, and play with materials and technologies used in working with children and families. It is a place to learn about and develop hands-on learning activities; to explore new educational materials and technologies; and to bring ideas. For Wheelock students, it is a place to connect college coursework to field experience. Workshops and continuous learning opportunities, open to all, are offered throughout the academic year on a variety of curriculum topics.
The Earl Center provides access to an extensive collection of objects and curricula including math, science, literacy, social studies, health, early childhood, and general educational materials. There is a laminator, book binding equipment, die-cutting, and both free and inexpensive craft materials. The Earl Center also offers exciting new technologies such as iPads, touchscreens, and collaborative technology workspaces. It has a 3D printer as well as other technological resources for STEAM experimentation, coding, and gaming.
Our flexible meeting spaces and resources provide the optimal environment for creating, studying and socializing.
The Earl Center, with the Library, is part of Academic Resources. Together, they provide a rich, well-rounded set of resources for both research and practice. Visit the Guiding Principles page to learn more about their core purpose, core values, and strategic plan.
