Wheelock Trustee Honored

Leverett Wing, well-known political leader, community activist and member of the Wheelock College Board of Trustees, will be honored by the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus. Wing will be receiving a Good Guys Award-an honor for men who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the goal of political, economic and social parity for women. The 14th Annual Good Guys Awards will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston.
Throughout his distinguished career, Wing has served as an influential community leader for key issues relating to diversity and healthy communities. As the first-ever Executive Director of the Massachusetts Asian American Commission, he led the way in advocating for social, economic and political equality for Asian Americans in Massachusetts. Throughout his lifetime, Wing has been dedicated to women's equality, as seen through his work on the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence and as a grassroots organizer for women politicians. Currently Wing is the Associate Director of Community Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Housing and Community Development.
Wing has been a member of the Wheelock College Board of Trustees since 2011 and serves on the Development, Governance and International Committees.
The Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus was founded in 1971 and is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to maximizing the participation of women of all ages in the political process, and to increasing the number of women appointed and elected to public office and public policy positions at all levels of government.
