Directions: Catch the 8 or the 47 bus at the end of Pilgrim Road to Ruggles Station. At Ruggles station, switch to any bus that goes towards Dudley Station. Get off the bus at the Malcolm X Boulevard stop. You will see the High School across the street, Madison Park High School. The center is on the 3rd floor of the high school. Go up the elevator and take a right, walk all the way down the hallway! The center doors are yellow!

Description: Established in 1922, the Ruggles Street/Mission Hill Day Care center became the first educational pre-school in the nation. Fifty years later, the Gilday Center was established by the Boston Junior League, its purpose to serve abused and neglected children. In 1999, a brand new, state-of-the-art facility was constructed that brought together both centers under one roof. Named the Ruggles/Gilday center, this Roxbury facility currently serves as a "home-away-from-home" for over 120 infants, toddlers and preschool children who live in Mission Main.
Directions: Walk along the Riverway (heading towards Windsor School). Take a left onto Longwood Ave. Walk Longwood Ave all the way until you reach the intersection of Longwood Ave and Huntington Ave. Cross Huntington Ave, in front of you will see a green sign that says “Mission Main”. Take a right onto St. Alphonses Street. Take your next left onto Horadan Way -You will see the center on the right # 38
ABCD, Inc. Walnut Grove Head Start

Description: Designed in 1964 through the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) to give low-income, pre-school children experiences that would enable them to compete effectively with their middle-income schoolmates, Head Start is often described as one of the great successes of the War on Poverty. The ABCD Head Start program began in 1965 as one of the agency's earliest programs. Today, Head Start serves as a model for early childhood initiatives nationwide and throughout the world. The citywide ABCD Head Start program is Boston's primary source for providing a comprehensive, holistic, family intervention program to low-income, pre-school children and their families. The decentralized program serves close to 2,400 pre-kindergarten children with more than 2,200 three-to-five-year-olds in 25 neighborhood-based programs throughout Boston and more than 186 infants, toddlers, young parents and pregnant women in Early Head Start programs in Dorchester, East Boston and the South End. However, current federal and state funding levels allow only 40 percent of eligible children to be served.
Directions: Catch the 8 or the 47 bus at the end of Pilgrim Road to Ruggles Station. At Ruggles station, switch to the 23, 28, or 19 bus. While riding the bus, keep a lookout for Qunicy St (with a Walgreens on the left) YOU WILL BE GETTING OFF SOON! Shortly ahead, you will see a Church (Charles AME Church), get off the bus there. You will see Elm Hill Ave. Walk along Elm Hill Ave and you will see the large white sign for ABCD, Inc. Walnut Grove Head Start on your left, #22!

Description: The Y is at the heart of strong communities in metro Boston. While riding the bus, you will go up Warren St. Get off the bus across the street from the YMCA (it is on the corner of Warren St. and Martin Luther King Boulevard. You will see the YMCA logo on the building)! Cross the street and go through the main entrance.
