About Jumpstart
Jumpstart is a leading nonprofit organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Since 1993, we’ve been bringing at-risk preschool children and college students together through one-to-one mentoring relationships to build the language, literacy, and social skills necessary to succeed not just in school, but also in life.
About Our Site
Jumpstart Boston at Wheelock College has been a Jumpstart site since 2005. Wheelock is honored to partner with the Jumpstart program in an effort to continue and grow our commitment to academic excellence, community service, and serving children and families. Wheelock College students work each year with over 100 preschool children at Head Start and other early learning centers in the area. Jumpstart students also participate in a service-learning class to help broaden their knowledge and reflect on their work with their partner children. Wheelock College students serve in the Roxbury community serving over 8, 950 hours in 2005-2006!
