Be a part of Wheelock's future through the Alumni Scholars Program!
An Alumni Scholarship is a $5,000 gift added to an undergraduate student's financial aid package to help defray the cost of a Wheelock education. Donors make an annual payment of $5,000 for four years.
It is also possible to support a graduate student with an annual gift of $5,000 during the student's years of study, which may last from one to four years.
Through an exchange of letters and meetings at events, donors are kept up-to-date as to their students' studies and activities. In the same way, students are given a glimpse through their donors of how others have used their Wheelock educations.
Students tell us why Alumni Scholars' gifts are so important:
"I want to thank you for helping me with the Alumni Scholars Program. It truly means a lot to me. My mom and I are trying to pay for my education ourselves, and this scholarship was like a breath of fresh air. We couldn't be happier." -Ashley
"I am now in my junior year and will begin pre-practicum next semester - I can hardly wait. Thank you for your contribution which has helped me in my quest to become the teacher I have always wanted to be." -Caitlyn
"I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I knew that Wheelock would provide me with the best preparation possible for me to excel in my career choice. I knew that financing my education would be a great hardship for me, and it is the aid that I have received that has allowed me to continue with my education here. You have made it possible for me to excel at Wheelock, and I genuinely thank you for that gift." -Dawn
Alumni tell us why they support this Program:
"My parents really sacrificed to send me to a private college. My participation in this scholars program is to honor my parents and parents like them who encourage their children to excel and reach for the stars."
-C. Miller `71
"Helping a student have the wonderful experience of attending Wheelock is very important to me. I value the education that I had, and I want others to reach out and work with children - our society needs well-trained professionals." -J. Anderson `62
"[The Program] forges a link between educators today and future educators. It is like the direct link that occurs when a relay racer passes the baton from one teammate to another." -M. Lewis `69
