As the College approaches its 125th year, the Campaign for Wheelock will lay the foundation for a "new vision" of a thriving 21st-century institution. The $80 million Campaign, the largest capital fundraising initiative in Wheelock's history, is a transformational undertaking that will provide significant new resources needed for the College to pursue a future of growth and innovation.
Both Annual Fund and endowment giving are central to this Campaign. Alumni who contribute to the Campaign's record-setting Annual Fund goal will have an immediate impact on student access to a Wheelock education. More than 90 percent of Annual Fund contributions support student scholarships, an absolutely crucial resource for a private college of Wheelock's caliber.
New endowments and support for programs and facilities will sustain Wheelock's mission in the future. Unlike many of its peer institutions, Wheelock has never had adequate resources for endowments dedicated to supporting scholarships, faculty, and the technological and other educational resources that are essential to our purpose and indispensable for excellence. Investing in these areas now will provide a base for expansion and make ongoing innovation possible.
Those who invest in the Campaign for Wheelock will build institutional capacity for the College to change and grow as the future unfolds, sustaining Wheelock's leadership in higher education and ensuring the continuing viability of its mission. The College is more than ready to move forward to the next level of growth and achievement.
A Transformational Campaign Building on Success
This Campaign comes at an exciting time. In 2005, Wheelock initiated a Strategic Plan that laid a clear path for revitalizing and growing the College as a learning community. Wheelock has exceeded all of the Plan's fundraising objectives and achieved challenging goals—all while maintaining financial stability during uncertain economic times. The College is making enormous strides in fulfilling its mission; is in a position of institutional, financial, and community strength; and has strong leadership in its Trustees, Corporators, and President. All of this inspires great confidence in the Campaign that lies ahead.
