Visiting Scholar Fatou Sarr Presentation
October 21, 2013
Wheelock College's Center for Intentional Programs and Partnerships hosted a discussion led by Intentional Visiting Scholar Dr. Fatou Sarr from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Senegal. Dr. Sarr spoke on how to close the gender gap for women in science and development fields in West Africa. In her lecture, she shared her thoughts on how to modernize the education and transportation systems as well as the importance of growing clean energy. "...Education and training are the key base to allow it [Africa] to have sufficient scientific knowledge to exploit its enormous wealth of its services and population," said Dr. Sarr.
The International Visiting Scholars series is a cross-cultural initiative designed to promote global understanding and literacy and an international educational experience for faculty, learners, and administrators at Wheelock and beyond. During their stay, the College invites the Visiting Scholars to present a lecture on a topic related to their expertise.
