Executive Director and Visiting Scholar Announced for the Wheelock CIELI

Wheelock College’s Center for International Education, Leadership, and Innovation has named Dr. David A. Fedo as the Executive Director and Visiting Scholar for its Singapore branch effective June 15, 2007.

Fedo comes to Wheelock from Curry College in Milton, MA, where he has served as an Academic Vice President, Dean of Faculty, and Professor of English since 1990. He had the overall responsibility for the College’s undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs, including two offsite branch campuses in Plymouth and Worcester, MA, with a total enrollment of nearly 3,900 students.

Prior to his tenure at Curry, Fedo was Associate Dean of the Undergraduate College at Bentley College in Waltham, MA, from 1980 through 1990, where he helped develop a combination BA/MBA degree program and expanded study abroad options for Bentley students and international professional opportunities for faculty. From 1971 to 1980, he was the Director of the Division of Liberal Arts at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston, MA, and later became a Trustee. Fedo has led and served on numerous accreditation visits sponsored by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education for more than 25 years. A writer and poet, he has published a book on the American poet William Carlos Williams, articles on business ethics and the humanities in the college curriculum, and poems in numerous periodicals and journals over the past 25 years.

Fedo is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and Boston University with a Ph.D. in Literature. He will travel to Singapore with his wife, Dr. Susan Fedo, for this two year appointment.

Dr. Susan Fedo has accepted a Wheelock College Adjunct Faculty appointment to teach in the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Educational Studies and Leadership Program being offered in Singapore. She will also assist the Executive Director with orientation programs for both faculty and students, implementation of online registration and grading, tutoring and library support, and other special projects where her talents and expertise would allow for her to further the work of the Center for International Education, Leadership, and Innovation—Singapore.

Susan Fedo has served as Director of Human Resources at Wheelock College since 2001 where she has provided leadership for a full range of HR activities, policies, and processes. Her background has balanced work in both the corporate and business environments over many years with leadership in student affairs and services and colleges and universities. Over the years she has been an adjunct instructor in management, organizational behavior, and group dynamics at Boston University’s Metropolitan College, and was an instructor in education in the Framingham State College M.Ed. Program in Brasilia, Brazil. Susan Fedo has also served on accreditation teams with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and has been an active participant in programs sponsored by the Colleges of the Fenway since coming to Wheelock College.

The Center for International Education, Leadership, and Innovation—Singapore will open officially with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 21, 2007 and offer a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Educational Studies and Leadership Program in collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic and RTRC Asia Pte Ltd.
