Theatre Espresso Honored for Excellence
August 23, 2012
The New England Theatre Conference (NETC) named Theatre Espresso as a 2012 NETC Regional Award Recipient for Excellence in Theatre. The award will be presented at NETC's annual awards banquet scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2012.
"This is particularly exciting news, as Theatre Espresso performs for student groups," said Wendy Lement, producer at Wheelock Family Theatre and co-founder of Theatre Espresso. "The award demonstrates that NETC recognizes the value of presenting high-quality theatre for young people, which not only entertains, but also engages them in debates about critical issues."
Theatre Espresso is a theater company that brings history to life for students through interactive dramatic productions. Since, 1992, Theatre Espresso has created, produced, and performed high-quality, interactive dramas that bring history to life for students, in order to engage students in their education and foster a generation of critical thinkers and true citizens. The company serves 15,000 students annually and performs 150 shows each year in schools, museums, libraries, and courthouses throughout New England.
Theatre Espresso is now in residence at Wheelock Family Theatre, an ideal extension of the mission of Wheelock Family Theatre that provides internships and other learning opportunities for Wheelock students interested in theatre, education, and arts management.
