Enhancing the Field Scholars Program

The Enhancing the Field Scholars Program is for early childhood educators with an associate degree who are interested in earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Wheelock College. Selected courses are at an advanced level, to add to the knowledge base you have acquired through your associate degree program and experience as preschool teachers.

The number of classes you take in the program will depend on the number of credits that you transfer in to Wheelock. Each semester you will take 2-3 courses to complete your bachelor degree.

To ensure success each student is provided:

  • A literacy/writing coach
  • A mentor
  • An academic advisor
  • The flexibility of combining early evening and weekend (Friday afternoon and Saturday) classes

Applying to the Enhancing the Field Scholars Program

  1. Complete the online application.
  2. Submit the following required additional documents to natreg@wheelock.edu or mailed to National and Regional Programs, Wheelock College, 200 The Riverway, Boston, MA, 02215
    1. Official College Transcripts: You must submit official college transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended in the past.
    2. Writing Sample: Please submit a copy of a graded paper you have written within the last year.  It should be a minimum of 250 words.  Some examples are literary analysis, a history thesis, or a research paper.  If you have been out of school for more than two years, you may submit a personal statement in lieu of the graded writing sample.  The personal statement should be 250-400 words in length, explaining why you wish to attend Wheelock College.
    3. Recommendations: Please have two individuals who know you in a professional or academic context fill out the Reference Form and send it to Wheelock. Click here to download the document. [PDF]
