Wheelock Welcomes the Class of 2013
September 02, 2009
The 200 members of the new class hail from all six New England states, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Florida, Nebraska, and even Singapore.
Their ranks include 32 National Honor Society members. Many have already demonstrated a commitment to Wheelock's mission—improving the lives of children and families—by volunteering for organizations such as the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, City Year, the Red Cross, Project Hope, and Best Buddies.
They have also demonstrated significant leadership potential as model United Nations participants, Boy and Girl Scout leaders, youth sports coaches, religious education teachers, and National Honor Society members.
Their artistic interests include salsa dancing, music, theater, poetry, sculpting, interior design, painting, and glass blowing. They play field hockey, basketball, lacrosse, basketball, softball, and Ultimate Frisbee. Several have run the Boston Marathon.
Some members of the Class of 2013 have had the opportunity to travel or study abroad in countries as Sweden, Denmark, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, and Costa Rica. And many speak a second language French, Spanish, and Creole—just to name a few.
In addition to their unique combination of talent, skills, and passion, the Class of 2013 will have the honor of graduating during Wheelock's 125th anniversary.
