1. When should my student begin using career services and resources?
We encourage students to use the services of the Center for Career Development early in their educational experiences.  Students' experiences in the field beginning in their first semester of their first year create a natural progression for utilization of career services and resources.  To support students at each stage of their career development, we have developed a checklist of tasks that corresponds with each undergraduate year.  The timeline is available on the career web site.

2. How does my student learn about career services and programs?
Information about career services, resources, and programs as well as job opportunities is disseminated to students via their Wheelock College email account.  In addition, the career staff posts announcements regarding events on bulletin boards located around campus — in classrooms, student lounges, and residence halls.

3. What resources are available to support students who are interested in attending graduate school?
The career staff collaborates with the graduate admissions and financial aid staffs to sponsor a graduate school information session during the fall semester.  The information session is designed to provide students with an overview of the admissions and financial aid processes and to offer suggestions about resources for identifying graduate programs that meet students' individual needs.  The career staff is available to meet with students to respond to individual questions regarding application materials, including the personal statement and references.  Students who are interested in Wheelock's graduate programs have an opportunity to meet with a member of the graduate admissions staff.

4. Are there special programs for seniors to assist them with the job search process?
All seniors are contacted in the early part of the fall semester to schedule individual appointments with a member of the career staff to discuss a personal game plan to achieve post-graduation goals, including employment or graduate school.  In addition, the Center for Career Development sponsors an On-Campus Recruiting Program, multiple job fairs, including the Colleges of the Fenway/Boston Public School Teacher Recruitment Fair and the MERC Educators' Job Fair, certification/licensure information sessions, as well as a series of workshops.
