CHILD LIFE JOB MARKET
Employment opportunities for child life majors exist in
a variety of health care settings throughout the United States and Canada.
Jobs in traditional Child Life settings such as hospitals are limited.
However, graduates of the Wheelock Child Life programs regularly find work
in traditional settings, as well as in other health care settings where child
life knowledge and skills may be applied. Opportunities for successful
child life job searches are maximized for those who are willing to relocate
and are flexible about the precise nature of their work.
You may be curious about the starting range, average, or long-term salary
potential of child life specialists. Salaries are influenced by numerous
factors:
- Region of the country
- Position (i.e. entry level, experienced child life specialist, program director)
- Number of years of experience in the field
- Education level (bachelor's degree or master's degree)
- Certification status (e.g. CCLS)
- Size of the child life program
