Wheelock College Announces $80 Million Capital Campaign

Yesterday, Wheelock College announced the public phase of a Capital Campaign to raise $80 million, the largest fundraising initiative in the College's history. The Campaign will support what Wheelock is referring to as the "First Five": a new level for scholarship endowments, the first endowed professorships, the first fund for innovation, the first fund for technology enhancement and innovation, and the first fund for facilities and a sustainable campus environment.

"The Campaign will greatly advance the College's ability to prepare more graduates who are passionately committed to serving future generations of children and families," said Jackie Jenkins-Scott, Wheelock's president, in a press release.

One of the Campaign's key goals has already been fulfilled: full funding of a $5 million endowment for technology and innovation.

"This is a transformational gift that will ensure continuing use of technology, which is integral to every aspect of Wheelock's educational mission today, whether it is teaching and learning in and outside the classroom, research and scholarship, curriculum development, our global programs, or our community partnerships," President Jenkins-Scott said.

The Campaign began on July 1, 2007 and will conclude June 30, 2014. Already, the College has raised $53 million toward the Campaign goal.

With 82 percent of its graduates becoming teachers, social workers and child life professionals, this Campaign could push Wheelock College swiftly into the future and help students make a positive difference in the world.
