Bishop Recognized by Wayside Youth & Family
June 26, 2007Kathleen Kirk Bishop, the dean of the School of Social Work and Family Studies, was awarded the President’s Community Award by the Wayside Youth & Family Support Network at its 30th Anniversary celebration.
Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is a non-profit, nationally accredited human service agency providing individual and family counseling, youth residential programs, and prevention education to children, youth, and families throughout Eastern and Central Massachusetts. Wayside is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of quality and integrity in providing leading edge counseling, family support, residential and educational services for building strength, hope and resiliency in youth, families and communities.
Bishop was appointed dean and professor of Social Work at Wheelock College on July 1, 1999. She spearheaded the development of a new MSW program at Wheelock, which received accreditation in February 2003. Her research and publications focus on all aspects of supporting children and families, with a particular emphasis on forming partnerships with families and using family-centered approaches to practice and policy.
