Wheelock Alumni Association Award Criteria

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD:

Established in 1975, this award honors a member of a reunion class celebrating a 25th or higher reunion.  Criteria for this award is based on an alumna/us’ service to the College, service to alumni, or service to their class.  A framed, hand-calligraphy award of recognition will be given during the Annual Alumni Reunion Luncheon.

LUCY WHEELOCK AWARD:

Established in 1988, this award honors a younger alumna/us who is celebrating a 5th to 20th year Reunion.  Criteria for this award is based on this person’s service to the College and service to the Alumni Association including any of the following involvement: Alumni Board member, class officer, phonathon participant, club member, alumni admissions volunteer, Alumni Board Committee member and participant at past reunions.  The Award Committee recognizes that every recipient may meet not all criteria and that the award will only be given when an eminently qualified candidate is identified.  A framed certificate of recognition will be given during the Annual Alumni Reunion Luncheon.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE SERVICE AWARD:

Formerly called the Alumni Anniversary Award, this award was established in 1992.  It is given to two alumni from reunion classes.  Usually one from a younger class (5th to 25th year reunion) and one from an older class (25th Reunion or higher), whose professional or volunteer work exemplifies the mission of Wheelock College, which is to improve the quality of life for children and their families.  This award will be presented at the Annual Alumni Reunion Luncheon.  It will consist of a framed certificate honoring each recipient.

You will be asked to nominate a classmate or classmates who meet the criteria for the "Making A Difference Service Award".  Please keep this award in mind when you hear of classmates who are doing outstanding work.
