Introduces factors that support oral language, reading and writing.. Considers effects of language and culture on literacy development Topics include language acquisition, emergent literacy, phonics instruction, choosing literature, and expanding comprehension. Develops skills at assessing components of reading and planning guided reading lessons. (Formerly titled: Developing Literacy)
