Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Helping Children Cope with Stress
December 30, 2011 - January 8, 2012
This cross-cultural learning experience will allow up to eight students to learn side-by-side with Singaporean students and to have an immersive experience working with children and families in Singapore. Participants will take the course "Helping Children Cope with Stress" in an intensive one-week session with Dr. Paul Thayer in Singapore while also exploring the dynamic, exciting, and multicultural Asian city-state. Students will be placed in an education, health care, or social services site from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. weekdays, in conjunction with community partners, and will have class in the evenings.
In addition to the week-long field experiences, participants will have an opportunity to explore Singapore's many cultural and natural sites, including the National Museum, Zoo and Bird Park, Chinatown, and Little India.
