Inclusionary Practice in the Eastern Caribbean
March 2013
This program, led by Dr. Felicity Crawford, Associate Professor of Special Education, will allow 10-15 students the opportunity to experience an in-depth look at the Barbados education system. Students will engage with and learn from and with educators, students, and administrators in Barbados. There will be an emphasis on learning about the ways in which Barbadians cater to the needs of the children in their schools and exploration of how to strengthen and sustain even higher social and academic goals for all students.
In addition to service learning placements in local schools, community institutions, and organizations that include Parents Education for Development in Barbados, The Autism Association of Barbados, and National Organization of Women, participants will have opportunities to visit cultural locations including Animal Flower Cave, St. Lucy, Harrison Cave, St. Thomas, The Baobob Tree in Queens Park, Bridgetown, and St. Nicholas Abbey.
