Master of Science in Organizational Leadership
For professionals who want to prepare for leadership and executive roles in nonprofit organizations.
The 30-credit MS in Organizational Leadership will prepare you to take on administrative, executive, and leadership positions in the nonprofit field. Through a series of required courses and advanced electives, you will gain the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to assume nonprofit leadership roles.
You will learn to build effective multi-cultural organizations where the talents and contributions of individuals from diverse backgrounds are recognized, respected, and valued. You will also develop the capacity to lead organizations in an increasingly global environment.
Wheelock is currently offering a 25% tuition scholarship to current employees of nonprofit organizations who enroll in January 2014 for our accelerated program. This scholarship will be applied to the full cost of the program. Students who enroll in this accelerated program will be able to complete the full master's degree in one-and-a-half years, instead of the usual two years.

- ORL 620 Organizational Governance
- ORL 531 Nonprofit Budgeting and Financial Management
Students who complete this foundational sequence will be awarded a Certificate in Organizational Leadership.
Additional courses required for a master's degree include Organizational Governance and Organizational Change.
Students will also complete a two-semester Capstone Project. This group project will consist of applied research in a specialized area of interest, providing students with a critical learning experience as they seek to address an identified organizational priority, issue, or service delivery challenge.
Finally, students will choose two elective courses that cover a variety of topics such as:
- Effective Organizational Communication
- Policy Practice
- Resource Development
- Entrepreneurship for Nonprofits
