Irwin Nesoff is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Leadership and Policy. Prior to joining the faculty at Wheelock, he was a member of the social work faculty at Kean University in Union, New Jersey for 13 years. He received his Masters of Social Work degree from the Hunter College School of Social Work and his Doctorate in Social Welfare from the City University of New York Graduate Center. He has also taught in the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service of NYU, and earned a certificate in nonprofit management from Columbia University.
Nesoff is an experienced nonprofit administrator, serving as an executive in both nonprofit and government agencies. He has served on numerous nonprofit boards of directors and was the founding President of the National Center for Creative Aging. While he was executive director of Sunnyside Community Services, the United Way recognized it as one of five best managed social service agencies in New York City. Nesoff was the principal of a successful management consulting partnership providing management support and executive coaching for nonprofits throughout New York City before relocating to Boston.
He serves as a volunteer consultant for the Experience Service Collaborative of New England, providing management support and training for nonprofit organizations.
At Wheelock, Nesoff developed the curriculum for the Master's Degree in Nonprofit Leadership, and is responsible for overseeing the Student Policy Fellows and the undergraduate Leadership Minor. Nesoff is a frequent speaker and workshop presenter on management issues affecting nonprofit organizations.
