Dr. Donna. McKibbens works closely with the department chairs and faculty to provide academic oversight for all Wheelock professional undergraduate and graduate education programs. An academic administrator, child development specialist, and teacher educator who has taught across Wheelock education programs beginning in 1993, McKibbens was co-chair of the Elementary Education Department in 2007-2008, and Associate Dean of the school in 2009-2010.
As an American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE) representative on the Board of Examiners for the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), she has chaired national and state accreditation teams since 2001. She has been an elected member of the executive board of the AACTE affiliate in Massachusetts since 2006, serving as treasurer since 2008.
A frequent presenter at national conferences, McKibbens' most recent peer reviewed or invited publications are "Promoting equity and accountability in multicultural classrooms: Preservice teachers use student work to evaluate the impact of instruction on student learning" in The Journal of Thought (fall 2005); and in 2008 as lead author of "Focus Child Assessment Project" in It's All About Student Learning: Assessing Teacher Candidates' Ability to Impact P-12 Students, (pp. 205-214), NCATE: Washington, DC (with Wheelock faculty members Susan Shainker and Linda Banks-Santilli).
