Cheryl Render Brown began her career as a preschool educator in a cooperative nursery program in Cambridge, MA, and later conceptualized and coordinated Early Childhood Special Education through the Early Years Program for the Middletown, CT, public school district, working with public, private, and parochial preschool programs, health service providers, and social service agencies to identify children from birth to school age. Additionally, she served as a consultant to Connecticut school districts in their efforts to promote inclusive programming for children with special needs.
In 1990, she returned to teach in an inclusive pre-kindergarten classroom at the Eliot Pearson Children's School at Tufts University, where she completed her graduate studies and taught courses in the Child Study Department.
In 1993, she joined the faculty at Wheelock College, where she has taught and supervised early childhood teachers and worked in teacher preparation programs. She has taught in off-campus programs in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, and in international programs in Bermuda, Taiwan, and the Republic of China (2006).
