Jim Bourque is a half-time instructor in the Department of Social Work, and holds an MSW from Boston University.
For most of his career, he was the CEO of the United Way of Monmouth County in east central New Jersey, retiring in late 2002. In addition to usual duties in that position, he initiated a number of joint ventures with local public sector agencies, held volunteer responsibilities in local, state, and regional organizations, and played a key role in the United Way's response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Since retiring, Bourque has been a consultant to nonprofit organizations in New Jersey and Massachusetts. He has taught social welfare policy, social work practice, and social work administration at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ, and taught policy at the Smith College School for Social Work.
