Dana Bialer holds a joint Master of Public Policy in public policy and Master of Arts in women and gender studies from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Bialer received her BA degree from Simmons College, in which her studies focused on women's studies, political science and social justice. She served as a 2011 C. Edwin Baker Media Policy Fellow with Free Press, a leading national media policy organization.
Bialer's academic interests involve examining the connections between human trafficking and pornography, and research into the ways the porn industry commodifies queer identities. Her research experience includes media contextualization of pornography, programming to alleviate health disparities for Black women and girls, United States LGBT anti-discrimination policy, and domestic/transnational human trafficking.
Bialer has assumed leadership roles in a diversity of community and national organizations and campaigns, including V-Day, the Colleges of the Fenway consortium's Take Back The Night, U.S. Department of Justice Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, Human Rights Campaign, and her recent appointment to the Stop Porn Culture! Board of Directors.
