Marianne Adams is a teaching artist whose primary interest is the integration of the arts into all aspects of children's lives. She worked for 25 years as an Artist in Residence through various agencies, traveling to schools all over Massachusetts as a drama teacher, storyteller, and program developer. She has also served as an Arts Specialist and Humanities Teacher in the Boston Public Schools. As a member of the Cambridge Public Schools Drama Collaborative from 1997-2006 she helped design and implement training and support systems for over 100 teachers in the use of drama in the curriculum. She has presented to the NELMS conference several times on various topics concerning the development of integrated, multi-disciplinary curricula. She continues to consult and work with teachers to develop integrated curricula; locally and nationally.
She is a full-time instructor in the arts at Wheelock College, and is an adjunct instructor at Lesley University in the Graduate School of Education; Creative Arts in Learning Division. In addition she is currently the Audience engagement coordinator for the Wheelock Family Theatre and is working with VSA of Massachusetts on a residency in South Boston. She holds a BA from UMass Boston, and a MEd from Lesley University.
