See the currently available MTEL Prep Courses on the MTEL Prep Registration Web Page.
This prep session module covers math content included in the test objectives for the MTEL General Curriculum: Mathematics subtest.
Each session provides hands-on experiences to assist participants as they explore key concepts of the MTEL General Curriculum: Mathematics subtest objectives. Test-taking strategies and tips to answer multiple choice and open response questions are intertwined in reviewing essential mathematical topics. Participants experience multiple ways to solve problems and discover why they make sense.
A three-session sequence is offered for Wheelock undergraduates who have excelled in the Wheelock undergraduate 2-3 course math series and are advised by their Wheelock math instructor to take the 3-session review. All others are advised to take at least a seven-session sequence offered for Wheelock undergraduates and graduate students who need more than a brief review to be successful on the math MTEL.
All prep sessions are offered free of charge for Wheelock students and recent graduates who continue to take MTEL exams for licensure purposes. In order to assure adequate space and materials, it is strongly recommended that participants register for all MTEL Preparation Sessions. Register for all prep sessions through the Wheelock College portal.
For non-Wheelock students, download the appropriate MTEL non-matriculated student registration form, complete and submit with your payment to the address listed on the form. Registration must be completed prior to attending any sessions. The cost for non-Wheelock students to participate in the MTEL General Curriculum: Mathematics subtest preparation is $75.00 for all seven sessions or $15.00 for each individual session.
For advising about which prep support to take, Wheelock undergraduate students should contact their math instructor. All other Wheelock students are advised to take the 7-session sequence or the math content review course. Seek advice from your academic advisor or department chair. A Wheelock math diagnostic is available and the results can be helpful in planning your Math MTEL preparation.
